New Learner Mentor at the Leesburg Public Library!
The Adult Literacy Program is very excited to be offering a new program! We know how hard learners work with their tutors to improve their English language skills and sometimes it is difficult. So, we are pleased to announce that we have created a Learner Mentor program.

Lake County residents and visitors were treated to some of Florida’s finest authors both fiction and non-fiction during the 2009 Festival of Reading.
East Lake County Library's 8th Annual Poetry Contest
In Honor of National Poetry Month in April the Friends of East Lake County Library is sponsoring the 8th Annual Poetry Contest. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in each category. Honorable Mentions will receive a certificate and every entry will receive a ribbon of participation.
Florida Stories - Con Sabor!
Lake County Library System is proud to present Stories of Florida – Con Sabor! Storyteller Carrie Sue Ayvar the Baysinger Memorial County Library on Thursday, April 16th, 2009 at 6 p.m. in the Puryear Building located on the corner of Lake Avenue and Orange Avenue in Groveland.
Lake County Historical Museum
The Lake County Historical Museum has been serving Lake County residents for more than 40 years. When the Historic Courthouse was restored to its present condition in November, 1998, the Museum became the central focus of the restoration and received a coveted state restoration/rehabilitation award. The building received the honor of being placed on the National Registry of Historic Places.

East Lake Happenings
East Lake Library’s big event of the year is over. The Bluegrass Festival was another great success. We estimated having over 1000 people attend as we did last year. We had two new groups this year that really got the crowds excited.
W. T. Bland Library
The W. T. Bland Public Library has planned several programs dealing with writing and poetry for the month of April.
Minneola Schoolhouse Library
The city of Minneola will celebrate the grand opening of the Minneola Schoolhouse Library on 4/18 at 10:00 a.m. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony with entertainment and refreshments to follow. All are invited to attend.
Fruitland Park Library Introduces New Director
The Fruitland Park Public Library has a new Director and she is a woman with a secret.
Friends of the Leesburg Library Membership
The Friends of the Leesburg Public Library, a nonprofit organization, is starting a new membership program to raise money for the library. The Friends organization has been in existance in the City for over 50 years and they've done some great things.
