Youth Services Librarian Margee Unger has announced her plans for the 2014 Summer Reading Program, Fizz, Boom, Read at the Astor County Library. The program will run from Monday, June 9th, through Saturday, July 26th, and will culminate with a party on Monday, July 28th, for those children who have completed the reading requirements. Summer activities will begin with a kickoff event on Monday, June 9th, featuring a fire truck and a picnic in the park.
The library will be hosting Monday afternoon programs throughout the summer, starting with Swamp Girl Adventures on June 16th. The programs will continue with SECO Electric on June 23rd, Mandi Face Painting on June 30th, Big Idea Balloons on July 14th, and YeHaa Bob on July 21st. All programs will start at 2:00 and will last approximately one hour.
Margee will continue her preschool programs on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 and her school-age craft programs on Thursdays from 5:30-7:00 throughout the summer.
Teens are invited to Spark a Reaction with their own reading program where they can win prizes by spinning the wheel after completing a reading milestone. Adults can participate in the Literary Elements bingo game to be eligible to win one of 3 $50.00 Wal-Mart gift certificates.
