Murder on Bay Street

Delicious Reads Welcomes the Bay Street Players

She’s a what? and a detective to boot? Join the BookFest and the Bay Street Players at the Historic State Theatre in Eustis as we welcome best-selling and award winning authors Robin Burcell from HarperCollins Publishers, Elaine Viets, Nancy J. Cohen and Deborah Sharp from the Mystery Writers of America, Florida Chapter.  This very special event will take place on Thursday, March 14 at 7 p.m.

Single mothers, cops, hair dressers, mystery shoppers - today’s heroines balance relationships and careers or dead end jobs, and rescue themselves and others from danger. These women authors are redefining the genre. Four best-selling authors will discuss how and why they create strong women characters.

Robin Burcell is the award-winning author of ten novels to date. Her new series is about an FBI forensic artist and agent. The first, Face Of A Killer, received a starred review from Library Journal, and was followed by The Bone Chamber, The Dark Hour, The Black List, and the upcoming The Kill Order. She is currently working on the sixth in the series.

Elaine Viets writes two national bestselling mystery series. Her Dead-End Job series is a satiric look at a serious subject – the minimum-wage world. The critically acclaimed Board Stiff is the twelfth in the series. Elaine’s second series features St. Louis mystery shopper Josie Marcus. Murder Is a Piece of Cake is her eighth adventure. Elaine has won the Agatha, Anthony and Lefty Awards!

Deborah Sharp, former USA Today reporter, ditched the news biz to write funny fiction. She traded the sad stories of the news business for the funny Mace Bauer Mystery series, set in a sweet-tea-and-barbecue slice of her native Florida. When a tipsy Mama tosses out her wedding ring with the trash, she drags daughter Mace to the city dump to search for the missing treasure in the 5th in the series, Mama Gets Trashed.

Nancy J. Cohen is an award-winning author who writes romance and mysteries. Her humorous Bad Hair Day mystery series features hairdresser Marla Shore, who solves crimes with wit and style under the sultry Florida sun. Several of these titles have made the Independent Mystery Booksellers Association bestseller list. Shear Murder is the tenth and most recent book in this series. Coming next is Hanging By A Hair.

The Bay Street Players began a series of book signings at the State Theater located at 109 N. Bay Street in downtown Eustis. They are joining the Lake County Library System’s BookFest to host this special event.
