Legendary Locals of Lake County

Groundbreaking Reads Program at the Leesburg Public Library
Carol Anderson

Authors Doris Bloodsworth and Connie Fleetwood shared a wonderful multi-media program related to their recent book, Legendary Locals of Lake County, at the Leesburg Public Library on Tuesday, June 18th. They focused on several individuals whose hard work, vision, and values have helped to make Lake County an unforgettable paradise. Special emphasis was given to Lake County’s own “Indiana Jones”, Edgar Banks; journalist and sportsman, David Newell; and to Annie Oakley. The audience was even treated to a video clip of Annie’s sharp-shooting skills as recorded in Thomas Edison’s studio in 1894! This fascinating program was sponsored by the Friends of the Leesburg Library as part of Groundbreaking Reads, the Adult Summer Reading Program 2013.
