Downloadable media circulation exceeds 100,000!

eBooks and Audiobooks popular with Lake County Patrons.
Charlene P. Smith

The Lake County Library System began offering downloadable eBooks in August, 2011. Recently titles in audio format were also added.  The collection currently has 4,144 eBook titles and 173 audiobook titles.  Since the start of the progam, downloadable media titles have been checked out over 100,000 times. This service continues to grow, especially after the holidays, when many people recieved eReaders or mobile devices for Christmas.  Recent authors added include Wendy Corsi Staub, Alison Gaylin, Ryan Van Cleave, Jamie Freveletti, Fern Michaels, P. D. James, and Mary Daheim.

eBooks and Audiobooks are available to download from the library’s website 24/7. Library card holders can check out and download digital media anytime, anywhere by visiting http://mylakelibrary.lib.overdrive.com.   Patrons may browse the library’s website, check out with a valid library card, and download to their PC or Mac®, and many mobile devices with the required free software provided.

There are never any late fees! No trips to return books! Titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period. This new service, powered by OverDrive, is free for patrons with a Lake County Library System library card. Library cards are free for residents of Lake County and reciprocal borrowers. Call your local library for details or apply online at www.mylakelibrary.org.
