Have a TV Show Marathon

Crystal Osborne

On chilly weekends, I love to spend them cuddled up with a fuzzy blanket and a warm drink watching a tv show marathon. Some shows are better upon the second watch, or a little easier to keep track of everything going on in them, like Lost.

Lost
Oceanic flight 815 crashes onto a deserted island full of secrets. This is a show full of nonstop excitement and mystery.

Carnivale
1934. The Dustbowl. The last great age of magic. In a time of titanic sandstorms, vile plagues, drought and pistilence - signs of God's fury and harbingers of the Apocalypse - the final conflict between good and evil is about to begin. The battle will take place in the Heartland of an empire called America. And when it is over, man will forever trade away wonder for reason. See the conflict of good vs. evil played out against a pair of vivid and unusual backdrops: a traveling carnival working the American Dustbowl circuit, and an evangelical ministry in California. - Amazon Product Description

Game of Thrones
Based on George R.R. Martin's epic book series A Song of Ice and Fire, this is show tremendous in scope. Political intrigue, scheming, revenge, religious upheaval, love, dragons and the magic they reawaken.

Deadwood
1876, in the Black Hills of South Dakota there is the lawless town of Deadwood. It's a rough place to make a fortune in gold. There is a lot of foul language in this show but it really is well worth looking past that aspect.

The Walking Dead
The Walking Dead is based on Robert Kirkman's graphic novel series of the same name. Rick Grimes wakes from a coma to a world overrun with walkers (zombies). He sets out to find his wife and son and ends up joining a small encampment of survivors outside of Atlanta. How will they deal with death at every turn?

Rome
Rome is one of those shows that looks and feels like a big budget movie. The show centers around the friendship of two soldiers, Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo who become by luck heroes of the people. It also shows Julius Caesar  coming back to Rome after being away for many years conquering the Gauls and the upset it causes in both public and private life. Family dysfunction, back stabbing, manipulation, brutality, treachery, love and sex all abound in this epic series.

Check one of these shows out and grab the blankets and snacks and loss yourself in the worlds they create. Have Fun!
