Cooper Memorial Library is hosting yet another great new year of programming, with fantastic events to capture everyone’s tastes and interests. On that note, we proudly present our programs for January and February 2013, entitled “Expand Your Horizons: Try Something New”.

Our new Cooper Chess Club meet on Thursdays from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Room 108, and kids and adults are welcome to attend. The Pastfinders Genealogy group meet on the second Thursday of the month from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Room 108, on Jan. 10, and Feb. 14, 2013. The CML Book Club meet on the third Tuesday of the month, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., in Room 221, on the second floor, on Jan. 15, and Feb. 19, 2013. The Florida Native Plant Society will be at the library with fun and educational programs about Florida plants and flowers on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., on Feb. 2nd, in Room 108 A.

Opera @ theLibrary continues its successful monthly programs in Room 108 B on the fourth Monday of the month from 1:45 to 5:00 p.m. with informative lectures and outstanding opera performances for the general public. Our January 28th program will be Jacques Offenbach’s opera fantastique Les contes d’Hoffmann (Tales of Hoffmann), and on February 25th we will present Richard Strauss’s opera-within-an-opera Ariadne auf Naxos.

The Friends of the Cooper Memorial Library will be hosting their Spring 2013 Book Sale on Friday, 2/15, and Saturday, 2/16/2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on both days, in our Community Room 108 in the library building. The Book Sale will coincide with our annual South Lake Green Festival on Saturday, 2/16, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A large collection of books, music CDs, and videos will be available for sale. Prices range from a quarter to a dollar with a few special items going for a little more. The Friends of the Cooper Memorial Library use the monies earned at the Book Sale to provide funding for special events and programs and projects at the library.

The library is located at 2525 Oakley Seaver Drive, on the Lake-Sumter Community College and UCF Campus in Clermont.
