Peanut Butter Squares
-1 cup peanut butter
-1 stick butter, softened
-2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
-1/2 cup brown sugar
-1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Topping:
-1/2 stick melted margarine
-1/2 bag chocolate chips
Mixing Bowl
Large Spoon for mixing
8x8 or 9x9 (or close to it) pan
Mix softened margarine with powdered sugar, vanilla, and brown sugar. Add peanut butter, press into an ungreased pan.
For the topping, melt margarine (do not boil!). Add chocolate chips to warm (not hot) melted margarine. Mix until all chips are melted. If chips do not melt, you can microwave for a few seconds (3-4 sec) at a time then mix, repeat if necessary. Pour chocolate mixture on top of peanut butter. Allow the chocolate to set in the refrigerator. Cut and serve.
