Trash, Movies, Genealogy and More!

City of Tavares Public Library

In case you miss the October 12th Let's Talk Trash program at Leesburg Public Library, you can catch it on Novermber 30th at 3 p.m. in the Tavares Civic Center, 100 E. Caroline Street. Lake County Information Outreach presenter, Cindy Strickland, will share a display of recyclable materials as well as a repurposing display showing what these materials can be turned into. She will also speak about the importance of recycling, e-cycling and how these goods can be money-makers.

Florida Snapshot Day is Wednesday, November 2. Make a point of attending programs, if they are offered at your library, or simply checkout a book or read a magazine in the library Reading Room. Be part of a statewide initiative to show the imnportance of libraries.Help tell ell the story of your Florida library and its value to the community by joining us for Florida Library Snapshot Day!

The Classic Comedies Video Series is back in full swing with the likes of the Three Stooges, Laurel & Hardy, W.C. Fields, The Marx Brothers and many more vintage comedians. Programs are one Friday a month from 10 a.m. to noon. Call the library to find out the date and what will be showing each month. Free popcorn and drinks will be available to enhance your movie experience.

Roots and Branches Genealogy Group meets the fourth Tuesday every 2 p.m. in the Library Conference Room. Monthly discussions featuring various history related topics on anything from family heirlooms and how to determine historical periods in undated photographs to old family recipes and how to begin researching your family tree. NOTE: There will be no meeting in November due to the Thanksgiving holiday and the December meeting will be on December 6 when a special holiday program will be the feature.For more information contact Linda Britt (352) 742-6204
