Bookmark Design Contest Winners Announced

Mystery and Mayhem Awards

The Lake County Library System is pleased to announce the winners of the 11th annual Bookmark Design Contest. The public is invited to the awards presentation, which will be held as part of the opening event for the 2011 Festival of Reading. The event, Murder, Mystery and Mayhem – Teen Style will be held beginning @ 11 a.m. in the Leesburg Public Library, 100 E Main Street. The winners will receive their awards at noon from Lake County Commissioner Jennifer Hill. The winning bookmark designs will then be available at all 15 libraries in the Lake County Library System, and will be printable from the library system’s web site.

Eustis High School Drama Club under the direction of Stuart Klatte, will perform Murdered to Death, a hilarious spoof of the best of Agatha Christie traditions by Peter Gordon. The audience will get caught up in the side splitting antics which follow the mysterious death of the house’s owner. Also, prepare to be rocked by Florida's own pop/rock sensation Vagrant Undertow @ 12:30 p.m. This talented band has played clubs and will be headlining several 2011 events. The day will include refreshments, door prizes and fun. The event is free sponsored in part by the Friends of the Leesburg Public Library.

2nd Place - Julia Zhu, Grade 3 Lost Lake Elementary
3rd Place - Sara Mehdinia, Grade 4 Minneola Elementary School
Honorable Mention - John-Michael Harling Grade 5 Home school
Honorable Mention - Logan Beasley Grade 4 Pine Ridge Elementary

In the Middle School Category:
1st Place - Jillian Evalle, Grade 8 Lake Montessori and Learning Institute
2nd Place - Hannah Austin, Grade 8 Mount Dora Middle School
3rd Place - Miles Maciejewski, Grade 6 Home School
Honorable Mention - Taylor Sullivan, Grade 8 Carver Middle School

In the High School Category:
