Wendy R. Breeden appointed Director of Lake County Department of Public Resources

Wendy R. Breeden has been appointed as the Director of the newly formed Lake County Department of Public Resources. This department has as its mission: To provide and promote life enriching experiences that exceed expectations for Lake County residents and visitors. The divisions included are Tourism and Business Relations; Libraries; Parks and Public Lands; Community Centers; the Fairgrounds; the Agricultural Extension and Horticultural Learning Center; and VolunteerLake. All divisions promote civic participation; foster local identity, and offer educational, recreational and social opportunities for citizens. They are part of the underlying county infrastructure- as important as the bricks and mortar of growth and development.

As Lake County Library System Director, Ms. Breeden was responsible for planning and coordinating library services for the residents of Lake County and for administering the Library Services Division. Wendy has served as Librarian for U.S. Naval Support Activity in Naples, Italy and as Library Director for the Winter Park Public Library. She was Library Coordinator in 1987 for the Lake County Board of County Commissioners working to develop the federated library system. Ms. Breeden holds an M. S. in Library Science from Florida State University and is currently serving as President of the Florida Library Association a state wide organization which supports all libraries in Florida. She is committed to strengthening the library profession by “thinking outside the book.” Wendy brings with her the experience, knowledge and creativity to successfully coordinate new and innovative efforts in the Department of Public Resources.
