The Kill Order, Author Robin Burcell

The Lake County Library System’s 11th annual Lake BookFest, Delicious Reads, will include Robin Burcell, the award winning author from HarperCollins Publishers. Robin has worked as a criminal investigator in Sacramento County, California. Prior to that she was a police officer and detective for the city of Lodi for eighteen years and was the first female officer hired, which meant breaking through the barriers and prejudices that went with that title.

Robin talks about her life on the HarperCollins Author site: “Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live an exciting, daring life? Live the thrill of being chased by bad guys, dodging gunfire, maybe even saving the world? I can honestly say that, ever since I was a little girl watching spy movies on TV, it has been a dream of mine. One might think that’s why I became a police officer. Trust me: The real world of police work isn’t nearly as exciting as they make it seem on TV, and so, to feed my inner fantasy of being the-girl-who-saves-the-world, I decided to pen some extraordinary characters who get to do all the things I wanted to do, but couldn’t, because, well, I like the paycheck that comes with my job, and they frown on that whole rule-breaking thing. My heroines get to take risks that I would never dare, and not only do they triumph over the bad guy in the end, sometimes they win over the cute guy as well.”

“I hope you enjoy my series of books based on my real-life experiences as a police officer, hostage negotiator, and forensic artist. If you have as much fun reading them as I have had writing them, then I’ve done my job well!” Read more about Robin at http://www.harpercollins.com or http://www.robinburcell.com
