Don’t miss the opportunity to enter the popular Trash to Fashion Contest for ages 8 - 19! The deadline for entries has been extended to Thursday, October 17, 2013 and contestants from all counties are welcome. The Lake County Library System will host the Trash to Fashion Contest on Saturday, October 26, in the Umatilla Public Library community room beginning at 11 a.m. This spectacular fashion extravaganza featuring eco-outfits from recycled or waste materials invites young people to think outside the recycle bin and design a piece of wearable art based on the creative use of "trash" -- found, salvaged, scavenged, and repurposed materials. Entry to the show is free and contestants have a chance to win cash prizes provided by our sponsor, Insight Financial Credit Union.
The "junky to funky" fashions provide charming environmental messages in a show that is both fun and purposeful. Coldwater Creek will provide light refreshments and Insight Financial Credit Union will award cash prizes to the top 6 unique fashions. Liz Curtis from Bay Street Players in Eustis will emcee the show. Liz is also the youth librarian at City of Tavares Public Library.
