Lake County Library System’s 15 public libraries are counting down the days until the launch of “summer reading program season”. It all started on the 8th with a countywide kick off event in Leesburg. On Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Cooper Memorial Library will host a special kick off for libraries in South Lake. In addition to learning how to play the South Lake summer reading game, you can visit a variety of interactive booths and meet Elephant and Piggy from the books by Mo Willems.
Our goal is to help make summer vacation a fun and educational time. Summer themes are Dig Into Reading for elementary school students and younger and Beneath the Surface for tweens and teens.
The 2013 Summer Reading Program is open to young people, preschool through young adult, with chances to win prizes for reading, story times, craft programs, summer movies, and even shows featuring children’s entertainers. For information about Lake County Library System’s FREE, fun summer programs, come to our kick off events, visit your local public library or visit our website at www.mylakelibrary.org and look under the Teens & Kids tab. A county-wide downloadable brochure is also available on the website.
