Festival of Reading Seeks Auction Items

Donations are being sought for the Silent Auction to be held during the Authors' Reception at the award winning Festival of Reading.  The money raised will benefit future library programs.  The annual event will be held this year on March 30th in the beautiful new Lady Lake Public Library. Gift baskets, certificates for products or services or items are welcome! A significant reward package is offered to our valued donors.

This year we are delighted to host internationally best selling writers from HarperCollins, Deborah Crombie and Charles Todd who are both included in the 100 Best Crime Novels of the Century according to the Independent Mystery Booksellers of America. Also appearing will be poet Vivian Shipley, a two-time recipient of the Paterson Award for Sustained Literary Achievement and twice nominee for the Pulitzer Prize. And to commemorate the Sesquicentennial of the Civil War is award-winning maritime writer Robert N. Macomber, recipient of the highest national prize in his genre, the American Library Association’s W. Y. Boyd Literary Award for Excellence in Military Fiction. The outstanding authors for 2012 include C. S. Challinor, Monica Moran Brandies and Young Adult writer J. Gabriel Gates, called by some “the future of literary horror”.

The Festival of Reading‘s mission is to encourage the love of reading and to offer the highest quality literary and cultural events and activities.  A schedule of the writing workshops and author appearances is available along with a list of participating authors on the Lake County Library System website at or by calling 352-253-6167.
