Jim Clark is the author of six books and has written for The Washington Post, Washington Star, Washington Monthly, The Nation, and Miami Herald. He is on the history faculty at the University of Central Florida. His books cover Florida history, including 200 quick looks at Florida's 10,000 years of history, from the arrival of the first natives to the present. Dr. Clark will discuss U.S. Presidents and their roles in shaping Florida, whether waging wars, protecting the environment, seeking votes, or just drawing media attention to the state's attractions from his book Presidents in Florida. Dr. Clark will also discuss his latest work, The Pineapple Anthology of Florida Writers. This is the first in a series of collections of fiction and nonfiction about Florida by legendary writers. From Audubon in 1834 to Dave Barry in 1990, these writers reveal Florida’s natural beauty and her residents’ human foibles.
