Special guest authors Robin Burcell, Elaine Viets and Deborah Sharp discuss characters from their award winning novels.
If you’re interested in breaking the mold with your character, consider traits which society has typically not expected of females. A blend of traits that hold contradictions creates a natural friction that can yield fascinating results in fiction. Your character doesn’t need to be typical to be believable. The peculiar ones are even more interesting, but it’s your job to make your reader relate to them.
Award-winning author Robin Burcell writes two successful series one with SFPD Homicide Investigator Kate Gillespie and her latest FBI Special Agent Sydney Fitzpatrick. Elaine Viets writes two national bestselling mystery series featuring Helen Hawthorne hiding from an ex-husband in a string of “dead-end jobs” and St. Louis mystery shopper Josie Marcus. Deborah Sharp’s Mace Bauer is a wild critter trapper and amateur sleuth who survives with her sisters, and their lovable yet maddening mama.
