Author and former Leesburg Mayor Bob Lovell, will discuss the Florida Cracker and his biography, Cracker Outlaw. A former mayor and city commissioner of Leesburg, Lovell has a passion for his native Central Florida. Raised mostly by an eccentric grandmother and surrounded by memories of his great-grandfather, a wounded Civil War veteran, Bob grew up in a world that was more typical of 19th than 20th century. His kinfolk, were self-reliant, defiant and tenacious, as were most other Florida crackers of the time. That background had a profound effect on Lovell, and he realized history was too important to ignore. This program is sponsored by the Confederate Gray Chapter No. 641, United Daughters of the Confederacy.
